American Beaners and Wetbacks

Here me out before you chastise me on the title. Today I was informed by one of my friends of there story wondering why there were "beaners" working a fast food chain. Coming from Los Angeles seeing latinos and hispanics in the back of a kitchen is normal. Ever since this immigration issue has come to light, people want to criticize them for coming over and "taking" jobs. I feel that is farther from the truth

Most illegal aliens are here based on perception of what America is: the land of opportunity and for them it is, they are able to find a job provide for their family. The are here manly for the job and quality of live, but they (most of them) plan to return home once they become prosperous.
Also, they're not taking jobs that are wanted. When was the last time you heard someone (before the recession) say Imma go get a job a Mc Donald's or I don't have a problem picking fruit. They are doing the manual labor that us American's have become "too good" for. They are even given under minimum wage, and little to no benefits. They create jobs using the skills they have, without devaluing their worth.
They keep their culture. So what they might not speak our language? At one point in time, your ancestor did not either. America use to be the welcoming place to all cultures, but we have become too full of ourselves where learning other languages and cultures is beneath us (which explains why our education system is low, but thats another topic). As we become more global an the sea divides become smaller through technology, we must embrace cultures, to see that we are all the same.

In the time of a recession, Americans have learn our noses have become too high and as the water begins to rise, we realize that we are not alone. I hope that we realize that they want a piece of the American Dream, they could not achieve it home, so they found it elsewhere. More and more cultures are learning the "American Way" and coming over to take what's ours we just no longer work for it. It's time to become the working people we are known to be, and work together for all to have the opportunity of the Dream.

This whole Black Man White Woman concept

I was checking out another blog (i Brand.Me) where I saw this topic of why Black Men love White Chicks he broke it down in terms of race and relation. He spoke of white chicks being easy compared to other nationalities which can be true in some cases, (in love, there are always exceptions. ALWAYS.) but I find a different reason why Black Men date White chicks (and overall more racially unbiassed when it comes to dating).

1. No restraints. Many of times I have heard from my parents that love has no boundaries. If you are attracted to someone, see where that attraction takes you. Unfortunately, it's not the same for my sister, since she was old enough to understand the concept of dating it has been put in her head to marry a black man. Now I know that this isn't true for all black women, but the many I have talked to, they have stated that there parents prefer them to be with a melanin induced tone.

2. Stubbornness. All those who know black people, we naturally have egos, pretty big egos if we're well off. And two egos in the same room don't always get along. Especially dealing with those of our own race (and those of hispanic decent). We have to many common grounds where our best friends can become our worst enemies. Sometimes, things get misinterpreted where we begin to defend ourselves instead of resolving our issues, causing us to treat each other bitterly. And past experiences (either of your own or someone else's,) create barriers sometimes for things to ever work.

3. Complacency. Change is a big thing with humans. It's the only constant in our environment, but in terms of a relationship, it's a culprit of infidelity. When we are not true to our partners and to ourselves we begin to question our surroundings. Many of the times it escalates due to lack of communication and unfortunately, can move from one relationship to the next if not the proper healing.

4. Ease of Access. We live in an Anglo-Saxon based world. From ideas, to religion, to beauty, and in some cases we have been trained to think that a skeletal white woman is the pinnacle of beauty. While in the real world, the average woman wears a size 14 (sorry ladies stating facts, besides, I don't mind the size, just as long as your healthy!) so media beauty is far misconstrued from true life. There also is a larger dominance of the Caucasian population in the US compared to other ethnic groups (but the latina is on the rise). So in some cases, that means fewer interaction with your own race. We know there game, we know how to play it, plain and simple, so why not go for what you easily can get? I believe that's the idea of a dating/marrying a white woman. There available and there easy to catch.

5. Our interactions. Going to a HBCU i can state that YOUNG BLACK WOMEN HAVE HIGH STANDARDS. Yes, I understand that you want a man that can take you on shopping sprees in Paris and Tokyo but right now I'm a student (a broke one at that) and your a student. Technically in a sense this would be the perfect time to truly get to know someone before they take off. From ideas the media has imposed on us we have to "be ballin" to call shots. From these concepts, we take them to heart, , men by rims, women judge you on the base of what car you drive. This is beneath shallow, this causes epidemics. There are more successful black woman then there are black men; take out the homosexuals (down lo's count), the one's who end up deadbeats, or in jail, you're looking at a very small percentage of educated, successful, black men. Sometimes his experiences with black women (when he was that young guy in library studying) have been too detrimental where he looks elsewhere and ends up settling. Black men deep down want to be with a Nubian queen but if you put your guard up before they even get the chance to prove themselves, they end up giving up.

These are a few of the points that have made this whole Black Man White Woman idea so controversial. I have plenty more points (some even going back to slaver hierarchies) to discuss this topic but I'll leave for you to
Read. Share. Discuss.

WAKE UP! WAKE UP!

I say first of all, that as a human being, every should be vauled for their merit before anything else. Second, I have to agree with B Scott; having a reputation of attracting homosexuals, they are just like heterosexuals, they only approach if they're interested and once they realize your not gay they back off. They deserve the same respect as any other person. I believe that gays deserve the same rights and I come from the land of Miss California. Do I believe in gay marriage? No. But I who am I to judge who should get married and not? I'm struggling trying to find a girlfriend. We live in the land of liberty and justice for all. That includes, gays, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgenders. They deserve to have the same freedoms as heterosexuals.

Real Men should not have to bash a gay (or another) man for any reason. Going to an all male black college (Morehouse College for those who don't know), I see this bashing all the time and it must be stopped. We should not demoralize a person for their sexual orientation, especially as blacks who are still to this day are demoralized. We are all in the same struggle. We should all be striving for equality. Its time to wake up, and realize that we all fail if on race, gender, and/or orientation fails.

Money, Cars, Clothes... I Suppose

Do you really know what you want to be when you grow up? Are you sure? Why?
Has anyone asked you those questions? No? It's probably cause many people today don't know what they want to be and they're grown up. Somehow society has given us this ideology that a figure income over five is the only way to be successful. Many adults today are living in jobs because they are too afraid to do what they are called to do. And I don't mean called in terms of religion. I mean that hobby that the "world" only sees as a hobby, where you could spend all day just doing it without any worry or care. We have been fixed into jobs that actually hold our system together are not acceptable, yet complain when someone who sees it as an opportunity "takes" it. We must follow our calling, that gut feeling of what we are meant to do, not told to do. The great thing about it is that most of us are not meant to do just one thing, so it gives us endless possibilities. If you love to sing, become that singer, do background vocal, work on jingles, do anything ( that does not effect your essence) to take you where you want to be, surround yourself with like minded people to keep your head up. The reason I write this is for too long I've seen people, extraordinary people with talent and ambition, wasted, because of what someone told them they can't be, or what they can't do. Dreams have been vanquished because of people have given up. Please do not give up, do not drive your self to poverty in achieving your goal (hence given more that one talent), but always strive to at the level that you want to achieve.

Also, remember that no job is too below you. I was talking to colleagues at a career fair about seeing some of the careers listed, like waiter, custodian, and clown. I decided to hold my tongue back because I did not want to argue (especially with the person giving me a ride). I wanted to state that, who says that being any of those jobs are unacceptable in life? You many not live the life of a counterpart but who says that they are not successful. My grandfather told me success is being able to provide for a family and to have sense of security. I believe that is true as long, as you are able to take care of yourself and anyone who is dependent on you with out worrying about how you're gonna pay the next bill or see that your child when sick is taken care can be deemed successful. Money, car, clothes are only material things and can come and go as they please, but being there and providing love and care are more valuable than anything else.

Personal & Social Responsibility

This has been on my chest for too long. WAKE UP PEOPLE. We all live in this world together its time we start acting like it. I can no longer point fingers at the past for creating the present for now I realize that created me. What I can do Is write this about personal and social responsibility:

For to long we have misinterpreted what our forefathers have stated in the aspect of our politics and economic system. We have misconstrued them far from the truth. The essence of democracy is that people come together to form "a more perfect union," a union where people have their say so in how government controls their lives. Unfortunately, we have allowed our ignorance to blind ourselves from what is going on. We have allowed the corrupt to take what's not personally theirs to manipulate how business operates, how our cities develop, and how our resources are exploited. Thomas Jefferson, the main writer of the Declaration of Independence, believe that if the people are not educated in its system of government, then the system will fail. If we continue this path of not holding people accountable of what they stated during the election, then we fail. The system of life is not to judge people, but to prevent from wrong happening. This recession is more of a moral recession, business and politics, loss moral and ethics codes and we allowed them to be greedy, in turn causing a house of cards to fall. Now as the future, we must fight for honesty and integrity, environmental responsibility, and unity , for united we stand, divided we fall. DeCaprio is true about his statement, this is humanity's 11 hour, and its up to us to come through, cause who else can save us from us?
