Same Sex: Marriage or Civil Union?

Since I'm a Californian, I figured this should be my first topic since its reach such high status around the world. Since the election there has been this big debacle on Proposition 8. It's a state amendment to legalize the rights of gay marriage. Now originally I thought a civil union and marriage are the same thing HOWEVER I was misinformed.

Marriage:
-Allows an immigrant to become a citizen without the process
-Couples would be able to file joint-tax returns or be eligible for tax breaks or protections the government affords to married couples
-A list of 1,049 benefits and protections available to heterosexual married couples

Civil Union
- Does not allow immigrants to become citizens through process
- Does not give the federal joint-tax return to homosexual couples
-Does not allow them to have same privileges on a national level

Now, I voted no on Prop 8 on the simple fact that its stupid that were even letting this happen. THERE ARE BIGGER PROBLEMS IN THE WORLD THAN SAME SEX RIGHTS. Besides, why are we stopping those who want to get married? Yes, I don't agree with there isssues based on my religon but isn't there suppose to be a separation from curch and state. And last time I've checked, children from same sex couples can grow up to be great heterosexual beings. Who gave us permision to judge on who should be permitted to love and not to love. I think its time we got over the BS and begin to just accept people for who they are: people. Gays are just like us, they bleed like us, eat like us, even pray like us. Doesn't God sad he with no sin, cast the first stone? So get out of peoples lives, and live your own.
